What is geothermal energy?
A geothermal heat pump works like any other heat pump by moving heat from one place to another. Heat drawn from the ground or water is transferred to your home using a heat-transfer fluid (a mixture of antifreeze and water) as the link between the heat pump and the collar. In summer, for cooling purposes, the loop is reversed to extract heat from your home and transfer it to the cooler ground.
to choose geothermal energy
Savings
Cost savings of up to 60%.
Significant savings. In general, a properly designed and installed vertical closed-loop system can reduce heating costs by 60%. For example, for a 2,000 sq. ft. home, heating can cost as little as $300 and air conditioning $50 per year.
Comfort
Uniformity and silence
Optimum comfort: unlike conventional forced-air generators, geothermal systems produce uniform, constant heat and are highly effective at cooling a home quickly. What’s more, they operate silently.
Versatility
Cold and hot
The geothermal heat pump can heat and cool your home, as well as heat your domestic hot water.
Maintenance
Without complexity
Easy maintenance. Geothermal systems generally require the same level of maintenance as conventional heating systems coupled with a heat pump or air conditioner.
Cleanliness
No combustion residues
It’s “clean” heat, because there’s no combustion and therefore no residue or dust in the home.
Independence
No costly surprises
An inexhaustible, renewable, reliable and stable source of energy. The production of heating or air-conditioning does not depend on atmospheric conditions or energy costs, which are often subject to fluctuations (electricity, gas, fuel oil).
Aesthetics
Invisible
The device is an integral part of the house, so there’s no visible external equipment.
Ecology
A minimal footprint
Respect for the environment by using renewable energy and Puron® ecological refrigerant.
Yield
Low energy consumption
Superior energy efficiency: the COP of a Carrier geothermal heat pump is four to five. In other words, it can transmit four to five times more heat than the amount of energy it consumes. As an indication, the ratio is one for a conventional electric resistance heater.
